TRAVEL TO SERBIA

Before travelling to the Republic of Serbia, please read HERE general entry requirements. 

Australian passport holders travelling to the Republic of Serbia do not require a visa for short stay up to 90 days, during a six-month period. For extended stay beyond 90 days, visa is required.

Holders of Australian Travel Document (Permit to Re-enter, Aliens Passport, Refugee Travel Document) need visa for entry to the Republic of Serbia.

Note: Holders of foreign passports who have a valid Schengen, UK and other EU Member States' visa, or visa of the United States of America, or have a residence permit in the countries of the Schengen area, EU or the USA, may, without prior visa application, enter, transit or stay in the Republic of Serbia up to 90 days during a six-month period, but not exceeding the expiring date of the said visas or residence permits.

Visa application processing times

Visa applications are submitted on-line, using the following link: https://welcometoserbia.gov.rs and processed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Serbia.

Visa applications may be submitted to the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia, in person or by mail, up to 3 (three) months before travel and no later than 4 (four) weeks before travel.

 

TYPES OF VISAS
1) Short-Term Visa (Category C Visa)
2) Long-Term Visa (Category D Visa)

VISA C – Transit and short stay in Serbia up to 90 days

Visa C is issued for transit and short stay purposes, including tourism, business or other travel needs, and may be valid for a single, double or multiple entries into Serbia.

The duration of an uninterrupted stay, and/or the total duration of successive visits of a foreigner with a short stay visa cannot exceed 90 days within a period of six months (180 days), which begins on the day of the first entry.

VISA C REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Valid passport (passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the intended date of departure from the Republic of Serbia, contain at least two consecutive blank pages and be issued in the last 10 years);
  2. Invitation letter:
    • for a private visit – invitation letter from a relative or a friend from Serbia, certified by the relevant authority of the Republic of Serbia;
    • for a business visit – invitation letter from the company in Serbia, stating nature of the business, expected duration of the visit and the name and address of the company or institution you are visiting, as well as a letter from an Australian company which you are representing;
    • for tourism – proof of payment for the trip/organised tour, issued by a travel agent. 
    • for transit – entry visa/entry permit for your next destination country. If visa for that country is not required, other supporting documents relating to the purpose of visit.
  3. Completed visa application form (PDF) (form must be filled out clearly, in printed letters; the applicant must fill all columns/questions and state correct residential address – no P.O. Box is acceptable);
  4. Photo (size 3.5x4.5cm);
  5. Return ticket or Itinerary (copy of Driver License and Insurance if travelling by car);
  6. Proof of residence in Australia (if you are not a citizen, eg. visa grant letter);
  7. Proof of sufficient funds for staying in Serbia (eg. Bank statement, Credit Card statement, Traveller Cheques. Allow 50.00 EUROS per day);
  8. Health insurance;
  9. Visa fee;
  10. Self-addressed return envelope with pre-paid return postage.

The Embassy of the Republic of Serbia reserves the right to request additional documentation, as required.

VISA D – Extended stay from 90 to 180 days

For travel longer than 90 days and up to 180 days, an extended stay visa D is required. Visa D may be issued under the following categories, and must be supported by documentary evidence, including:

  • EMPLOYMENT: (a) business registration; (b) employment contract, business agreement, sporting engagement or other documents as proof of work engagement of the visa applicant.
  • EDUCATION, INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, SPECIALISATION, SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH: (a) proof of enrolment in an accredited educational institution; (b) registration certificate; (c) confirmation letter of professional development/specialisation; (d) registration certificate and agreement with scientific-research organisation; etc.
  • FAMILY REUNION (where one spouse is a citizen of the Republic of Serbia): (a) Marriage certificate, not older than 6 months; (b) in case of de-facto relationships, single status certificate and statutory declarations of partners and two witnesses regarding their marriage like relationship, proof of same address; relationship registration certificate, birth certificate of mutual children if any; etc.
  • RELIGIOUS WORKER: (a) church/religious community registration certificate; (b) employment agreement or letter from the religious institution; etc.
  • MEDICAL TREATMENT: (a) health institution/hospital registration; (b) health institution letter stipulating place, type and period of treatment; (c) health insurance provider letter; etc.
  • REAL ESTATE OWNERSHIP: (a) Certificate of Title; (b) signed Contract of Sale; (c) Deed of gift; (d) Inheritance court decision; etc.

On-line application for issuing D visas – for employment

On-line application for issuing D-employment visas has started in the Republic of Serbia. Viza D allows entry into the Republic of Serbia and stay between 90 and 180 days. It also enables the regulation of temporary residence in Serbia.

If you are sure that you meet the requirements for visa D - for employment and have all the necessary documents, you can apply electronically, at the following link: https://econsulate.gov.rs/

VISA D REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Valid passport (passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the intended date of departure from the Republic of Serbia, contain at least two consecutive blank pages and be issued in the last 10 years);
  2. Completed visa application form (PDF) (form must be filled out clearly, in printed letters; the applicant must fill all columns/questions and state correct residential address – no P.O. Box is acceptable);
  3. 2 photos (size 3.5x4.5cm);
  4. Return ticket or Itinerary (copy of International Driving License, Title and  Insurance if you travel by car);
  5. Supporting documents for extended stay in Serbia (as per the list above);
  6. Proof of sufficient funds for staying in Serbia;
  7. Proof of accommodation in Serbia (eg. Bank statement, Credit Card statement, Traveller Cheques. Allow 50.00 EUROS per day);
  8. Health insurance;
  9. Visa fee;
  10. Self-addressed return envelope with pre-paid return postage.

The Embassy of the Republic of Serbia reserves the right to request additional documentation, as required.

Important information:

• For visa processing time allow a minimum of four weeks as all visa applications are assessed and approved by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Serbia.
• Travellers who are citizens of the Republic Serbia are advised to enter Serbia with a valid Serbian passport.
• Minor children travelling with one parent requires the written and certified consent of the non travelling parent. In the case of a minors travelling with third parties, written consent of both parents is required.
• Foreign nationals are required to register their place of stay (with their hosts) at the local Police Station within 24 hours upon arrival in Serbia (more information can be found HERE). 
• Foreigners may bring in an unlimited amount of foreign currency to Serbia, however all amounts over 10.000 EUROS must be declared at the border and a receipt issued. Upon leaving the country, the amount of cash they carry out cannot exceed the amount on the receipt.
